Naturopathy is the science of healthy and natural living. Naturopathy believes that the human body owes its existence to Nature's five elements-The Earth, Water, Air, Fire and Sky - a composite representation of all the forces of Nature.

The element Earth stands for solid structure like bones. Body fluids like blood, lymph, etc represent water. Air represents the breath of life, Fire symbolizes the heat generated within the body through various metabolic processes, and the hollow organs represent the vacuum.

In positive health, each of these elements is in equilibrium and well balanced. Any disturbance in this equilibrium due to any cause leads to accumulation of toxins and morbidity, which manifest as diseases. Naturopathy aligns us with the self-preservative will of Nature to protect and heal the body from within, by weeding out the undesirable elements.

It believes that all healing powers are within the body. This means that within every human organism there is a healing energy, which includes our immune system in the fuller sense of both the physical and the psyche, which is responsible for our wellness and our ability to heal and maintain health.

Diseases are caused due to "the violation of Nature's laws", i.e., breach of rules of diet, exercises, sleep, relaxation, drinking water etc. Naturopathy teaches the importance of healthy routine habits ,good eating habits and modifies lifestyle to be in tune with nature's principles thereby not only helping in attaining freedom from disease but also helps to maintain positive health throughout.

At the Health Village, you can avail of Naturpathic healing from leading Naturopathy healers.

Neti

Neti is an important part of Hindu Shatkarma (sometimes known as Shatkriya), the yogic system of body cleansing techniques that is an integral part of Hinduism. It is intended mainly to the cleaning of the air passageways in the head. We practice basically two types of Neti.

Jala Neti

For this technique, sterilized and lukewarm isotonic salt water is poured into one nostril, so that it leaves through the other. The procedure is then repeated on the other side, and the nose is dried by bending forward and by rapid breathing.

Sutra neti

This is an advanced form of yogic nasal cleansing and requires an experienced teacher. In sutra neti, a length of wet string or thin surgical tubing is carefully and gently inserted through the nose and into the mouth. The end is then pulled out of the mouth and while holding both ends at once the string is alternately pulled in and out of the nose and sinuses. It is used to clear the nose and also to remove nasal polyps.

Beneficial –

  • Neti removes all the dirt and bacteria filled mucus from within the nose.
  • It also helps to drain the sinus cavities which helps in fighting against nasal infections such as hay fever, allergies, sinusitis and other upper respiratory complaints like sore throats and coughs, post nasal drip, inflammation of tonsils and adenoids.
  • It is beneficial for illnesses such as asthma and

Vastra Dhauti

In this practice a long strip of moist cotton cloth is swallowed into the stomach. After retaining it for some time, it is pulled out thereby cleaning the stomach.

Trataka

Trāṭaka is 'to look, or to gaze') is the practice of staring at some external object. This fixed gazing is a method ofmeditation which involves concentrating on a single point such as a small object, black dot or candle flame. It is used in yoga as a way of developing concentration, strengthening the eyes, and stimulating the ājňā chakra. Trataka is supposedly the technique which sādhakas use to develop psychic powers. Tratak on one's own mirror image is considered to be extremely powerful, but without a guru's assistance it is said be dangerous to attempt. Occasionally tyros, misguided or under the influence of drugs, will attempt to look directly at the sun, with the foreseeable consequence of permanent central blindness.
